Definition: Also known as Brazilian cocoa, Guarana is a caffeine-containing herb which is used as an energy drink and natural stimulant. Guarana contains chemical compounds called xanthines which include caffeine, theobromine and theophylline.

Applications: Appetite suppressant, aphrodisiac, diarrhea, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, headaches, migraines, neuralgia and PMS.

Scientific Updates: Guarana is used for its stimulating properties and for its diuretic action. It is also conidered an antidiarrheic and antifatigue. Its potential for treating migraine headaches is under current investigation.
