DESCRIPTION
Eleuthero Max-V vegetarian capsules, provided by Douglas Laboratories, contain 200 mg of the herb Eleutherococcus senticosus standardized to 0.3% Eleutheroside B and 0.5% Eleutheroside E. Harvested from China, Russia, Manchuria, and Korea, this plant has been used for centuries as an adaptogen, stimulating the immune system and normalizing reaction to stressful conditions.

FUNCTIONS
Eleuthertococcus has been used for centuries as a panacea in the traditional medicine of Russia, to maintain and stimulate the function of the body's various systems, including its immunological defenses. As an adaptogen, Eleutherococcus is thought to increase the body's resistance to biological and chemical stresses, and thus stimulate a person's general vitality, both physical and emotional. Russian studies have shown that extracts of Eleutherococcus have generally positive results on work output and athletic performance. Laboratory and clinical studies have shown that Eleutherococcus senticosus increases phagocytosis and stimulates lymphocyte activity in response to biological or physical stress. Preparations of Eleutherococcus increase in vitro granulocyte and monocyte phagocytosis of Candida albicans by over 30%. It has been suggested that Eleutherococcus stimulates the production of interferon, thus enhancing the functioning of macrophages, natural killer cells, and cytotoxic T cells. A double-blind, placebo-controlled study demonstrated Eleutherococcus senticosus' significant increase in the number of immunocompetent cells in 36 healthy individuals. There was an especially pronounced effect on T lymphocytes, predominantly of the helper/inducer type, with a overall stimulation of their activation state. This effect was also seen with cytotoxic and natural killer cells. Polysaccharides with molecular weights in the range of 25,000 to 500,000 and higher have been isolated from the root. These polysaccharides are water soluble, acidic branched chain heterotglycans and are thought to be partially responsible for these immunostimulating actions.

Eleuthero Max-V capsules may be a useful dietary supplement for individuals who wish to obtain the natural immuno-stimulating properties of this standardized botanical.

Each Vegetarian Capsule Contains: Eleutherococcus senticosus .........................200 mg Standardized to 15% Eleutheroside B and 0.5% Eleutheroside E Total 0.8% Eleutherosides (China, Russia [Eastern Siberia], Manchuria, Korea) In a 100 mg. base of non-standardized Eleutherococcus senticosus

SUGGESTED USE
Adults take 1 capsule, 1 to 3 times daily between meals or as directed by physician.
