FUNCTIONS
Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) is an herb traditionally used by the Native Americans. The applicable parts of goldenseal are the dried rhizome and root. The alkaloids hydrastine, berberine, canadine, and canadaline are the principle active constituents in goldenseal. The isolated constituents have a variety of beneficial effects. An active constituent of the plant, berberine, is known for its supportive actions to the immune system.
Goldenseal has been used traditionally to help provide support to the immune and upper respiratory systems. Goldenseal also has unique properties for microbial balance.
