Calcium Ascorbate

PhysioLogics' Ester-C® 500 mg supplies Calcium Ascorbate, a non-acidic form of vitamin C to provide greater bioavailability in a stomach friendly form.*

Vitamin C is a water-soluble compound whose primary function is collagen formation, the protein essential for the formation of connective tissue in skin, vasculature, ligaments and bones. Collagen is required in the arterial wall to aid in expansion and contraction. By facilitating connective tissue formation, Vitamin C is a necessary component for skin health.*

Vitamin C is an essential antioxidant that directly influences the myeloperoxidase/hydrogen peroxide/halide system of neutrophils. By modulating this system, Vitamin C neutralizes superoxide production, helping to protect the eyes, lungs, and blood from free radical damage.*

For immune system support, Vitamin C has been shown to promote the response of lymphocytes to cytokines.* In addition, Vitamin C enhances the phagocytic functions of polymorphonuclear (PMN) neutrophils and supports the adherence of these cells to the vascular endothelium.*

Certain regularly prescribed drugs may cause Vitamin C depletions. PhysioLogics' Ester-C® 500 mg may be an opportunity for individuals to obtain the antioxidant potential of Vitamin C and support their immune system with a non-acidic formulation that is easier on the stomach.*

  • Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, to support connective tissue formation for healthy skin and nails.*
  • Vitamin C scavenges harmful free radicals to help protect the eyes, blood, and lungs from oxidative damage.*
  • Support the body's immune system.*
  • Clients with inadequate iron may benefit from Ester-C® supplementation, as Vitamin C assists the body in absorbing non-heme iron through a chemical reaction that adds an electron to the ferric form of iron.*
  • In a 60 day study of 168 healthy participants, subjects receiving Ester-C® had significantly fewer reports of decreased well-being and immune system health compared to a placebo group.(Van Straten/02)
  • Kennes et al investigated the effects of 500mg/day supplementation of Vitamin C on the immune system in the elderly. Vitamin C was found to promote the proliferative response of T lymphocytes compared to the placebo.
  • A recent study in France investigated the cardiovascular support potential of Vitamin C. Morel et al. found that 1000 mg of Vitamin C every day for 5 days supported endothelial tissue by promoting healthy microparticle levels, demonstrating the importance of antioxidants in circulatory health.
Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the human body and has numerous biological functions.* PhysioLogics' Ester-C® 500 mg provides a convenient way to obtain antioxidant support and promote immune system health in a fast-acting, absorbable and stomach friendly form.*

For adults, take one (1) capsule twice daily, preferably with a meal, or follow the advice of your health care professional. As a reminder, discuss the supplements and medications you take with your health care providers.
