  • Supports cellular levels of ATP, the energy source for all biological processes*
Red Yeast Rice has been a part of the traditional Chinese diet for centuries. It is created by fermenting cooked rice with Monascus purpureus yeast at carefully controlled temperatures. Red yeast rice contains natural pigments, starch, fatty acids, phytosterols and isoflavones along with a group of fungal metabolites. Red yeast rice supports overall health benefits.*

Coenzyme Q-10 is an essential component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain that produces adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy source for virtually every cellular process.* It is a powerful antioxidant and also supports heart health.* The body's Co Q-10 may diminish with age, strenuous exercise, and environmental stressors. In addition, certain regularly prescribed drugs may cause Co Q-10 depletions.**

Coenzyme Q-10 is naturally found in the inner mitochondrial membrane of every cell in the human body and plays a fundamental role in the production of ATP. It accepts electrons for mitochondrial complex I and complex II, and donates electrons to complex III during oxidative phosphorylation. Each pair of electrons in the electron transport chain must interact with Co Q-10, the rate-limiting component of the mitochondrial respiratory cycle.

In its reduced form, Co Q-10 is a lipid-soluble antioxidant that helps neutralize potentially damaging superoxide and lipid radicals.* Co Q-10 scavenges reactive oxygen species to support the cell during oxidative stress that can lead to cell and DNA damage.*

In addition, Co Q-10 supports the normal physiology of the heart and promotes healthy circulation through heart tissue.* It stabilizes calcium-dependent ion channels in heart tissue to prevent depletion of molecules essential for ATP synthesis.*

  • In one double-blind trial, researchers administered daily doses of 100 mg of Co Q-10 to 80 patients for 17 weeks. Eighty-nine percent experienced support of cardiovascular function, respiratory function and muscle strength support. These benefits lasted during the entire course of treatment. (Tran et al, 2001)
  • In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized study conducted by Berman et al, patients with end-stage heart failure were provided with 60 mg Co Q-10 or placebo daily. Patients taking Co Q-10 showed significant improvement in a 6-min walk test, dyspnea, fatigue and New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class for stages of heart failure. Thus, Coenzyme Q-10 was shown to effectively support overall well being including heart health. (Berman et al, 2004)
This product combines Red Yeast Rice to support overall health with Coenzyme Q-10 for ATP production, maintenance of heart health, and antioxidant support.*
**Coenzyme Q-10 is not intended to serve as a replacement for any prescribed drugs, nor should you discontinue taking any prescribed medications while supplementing with Coenzyme Q-10.

For adults, take one (1) softgel daily, preferably with meals, or follow the advice of your health care professional.
